... ? is not til April on Penguin .. piss. pity US shipping charges have gone up so much in the last year making it less tempting to order online..Had a good experience with WHSmiths here who sorted out a US copy of Dave Eggers AHWOSG well before it was available at minimal extra cost; hopefully they can do the same with this...I know it's only 2 months but it is William Gibson....

... ? Guardian Unlimited | Arts features | Andrew Marr meets - and sits for - David Hockney...I must remember to buy a copy everyday this week, the tabloid size G2s cover is a different artist each day; starting with Hockney... ... ? Goodbye, Columbus!..NYT on Gavin Menzies, a popular if somewhat dodgy historian...1421 wants to be another Longitude or FMT but the beauty of those books were they came out of no-where, initially selling themselves using standard publicity, good reviews & word of mouth ; all the marketing behind 1421 feels a little too pushy to me...I don't feel a book gets anything positive out of being so hardshly marketed.. But I haven't read the book though so we shall see....

Good.
The BBC always got a lot of things right with Science & Tech programs, gems like The Sky At Night, Horizon & QED were the proto-geek mindfood of choice as I was growing up. But Tommorrows World was like the runt of the pack, made sense in the 70s, wobbled in the 80s & then tumbled into dumb-land in the last decade...
Sadly they intend to keep the name & "will create a number of new programmes under the Tomorrow's World brand name over the coming year. "...note the use of the singlar "year"..
... ? Po Bronson, I doubt I'll be getting What Should I Do With My Life?...it looks just a bit too self-helpy for my liking; doesnt realy seem in keeping with his previous work....
... ? BBC reports....at least, this'll make it harder for them to dodge the much needed DNA tests. It appears the first one is tied up in legal issues in the US hence no test yet....2003-01-04

... ? ..over at Burn it Blue...listening to the pre-release is like some weird time-warp; this was some of the first Acid I ever heard; time to hunt in the loft for the original video (..why no DVD re-issue???...)....
